About Heather A. Singer, M.S., LPC, LCDC, CCTP
My name is Heather A. Singer, M.S., LPC, LCDC, CCTP. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Certified Basic and Family Mediator. Currently, I hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My Bachelor of Science degree is a triple major within the domains of Psychology, Sociology, and Human Development.
My clinical experience consists of five years working within agencies that provided education and outpatient adult and adolescent services for substance use disorders, mental health disorders, trauma, and other behaviors that are identified as needing modification, such as anger, theft, and domestic violence.
My formal education and direct clinical experiences are within the domains of consultative screenings/assessments and referral resourcing, substance use disorder and mental health evaluations, individual/ group/ family substance use, mental health, and trauma disorders therapy within intensive and supportive outpatient programs, individualized substance use, mental health, trauma, and behavioral disorder counseling, trauma-informed group and individual counseling, case management, and judicial advocacy and consultation.
My counseling approach encompasses the totality of my client’s intrapersonal and interpersonal domains, including their biology, cognitions, emotions, social systems, culture, and spirituality. Philosophically, I feel human orientation is not deterministic, but rather, we are free to choose throughout our lives, though limited at times due to biological, psychological, emotional, educational, and social factors.
It is my belief humans desire to grow, be challenged, be connected, and find purpose and meaning while simultaneously desiring to feel confidence in their personal competencies, identity, and self-worth.
My style of counseling is motivational in nature and is foundationally based upon empathic listening, genuineness, warmth, positive expectancy, and unconditional positive regard. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to the therapy process.
Through our therapeutic tenure, we will work collaboratively towards the identification of areas of focus for therapy, working together on your personal journey of self-discovery and the implementation of change. Specific therapeutic techniques may encompass behavioral, cognitive, emotion-focused, educational, trauma-informed, and relational modalities and methodologies.
The private practice of Singer Therapeutic Services, PLLC was established in 2019.
